| Three Ways to a Clear, Consistent Online Reputation! | |

As more social networking sites form and we build profiles throughout the Internet, the words we say, the words people say about us, and the words people say for us begin to take on a new power. The tridimensional aspect of conversation on the Internet pulls all of those bits and bytes together to form more than a brand . . . they become our reputation.
We can’t police or control the Internet. It would be impossible to find every word said about us. What we can do is make sure that the words we offer are consistent and in keeping with our authentic self and our vision. Here are some ways to do that.
-
Decide on three traits you want to clearly show in your Internet presence. For example, I want people to know I’m about conversation that moves relationships forward, that strategy and creativity come naturally to me, and that I’m authentically invested in connecting other people for their success.
Make a regular check of your profiles and bios around the social sites to which you belong. Pick a date every month — say the 15th — to go look. Read what’s there as if you’re a visit who doesn’t know you. Do you see the three traits you’ve set as your goals? Do keywords that highlight these traits show up as well? Is your profile sleek and easy to scan?
When you comment, answer a question, or leave microblog post, stop to read over what you wrote. Look for how well that little bit reinforces the traits you feel are your strongest.
Reputation is what we’re known for. Speak clearly and consistently about who you are, every time you leave a word and you’ll build a reputation exactly as you hope to.
