International students: A summer course in US?
By:deepika bajaj on Fri 29 Feb 2008 7:27 PM under Personal Success

I was just inquiring about courses for International students for my younger sister. She is in India and wants to visit Stanford for a summer course.

Stanford offers some courses for International students over the summer for a period of 8-10 weeks. They have different subjects to choose from.

Here are the key highlights:

1. They will sponsor F1 visa. This is just a student visa. You are not allowed to work under this visa.

2. As an International student, you are to take min. of 8 units.

3. The course costs somewhere between $6K-$13K depending on number of units you take.

4. There are no employment facilities offered to International students after the completion of this course.

5. The F1 visa issued is for only 2-3 months.

6. You can enroll for classes only after you visit the campus physically.

7. They require proof that you can pay for tuition. You will have to submit original Bank statements or similar documents.

8. You do not have to provide original transcripts or TOEFL scores.

9. They provide facility to stay on campus.

10. The application can be submitted online along with a fee of $100.

Somethings to consider as you decide to take a summer course in the US.
