How did you come to read this? Was it a decision, a choice, or just the next one in line? In reading blog posts, the difference in how or why you got here probably has little impact on your overall life, unless you’re having major time management issues.
Decisions, Choices, and Just What Comes Next
Each time we move from one act to another, a tiny turning point is there for us. Knowing when we’re making a decision, a choice, or just following to the next step is crucial to our lives and our businesses. Not paying attention to that fact can find us following any path that’s set before us. I want more control of my destiny. I would guess that you do too.
It’s about thinking — having our head in the game — when we do what we do. Some questions that might help keep our head in the game would be these.
- Do we see when we have more than one option? Some folks don’t bother to look.
- Do we ask ourselves if we’re doing something because it’s the next step in a usual plan? Some get engaged and then married because it’s what comes next, without ever considering a lifetime together with their partner.
- Do we know the difference between choosing and deciding? To choose is to select from a variety of options that will remain to select from again. To decide is to “kill off” those that we do not take as our own.
Some choices will lead us to stronger decisions. Some decisions will open a world of choices. Not thinking about which we do steals our focus and our time.
You’ve got the information. Will it change your life? Will find out more? You can choose or decide.
