One thing that is striking about them is that fun is the cornerstone of their work and life. If you take fun from life and work, women and girls just lose interest. Add a little amount of excitement and ladies will rock the task.

So, you may ask what does fun mean to women. Good question.

Fun is adventure and social for women. Look around and most baby showers, dance routines on cultural programs and surprise parties at work have women behind them. Even in their families, they are responsible for social calendars.

So, companies and marketers can tap into this and make work and life fun for women.

Clever shopkeepers know this. They will have a salesperson who is warm, friendly and bit talkative. This person would become the perfect shopping companion for women entering the store. Soon the shoppers are asking her suggestion on what they should purchase.

Goto the kids school, if you find a friendly teacher, the ladies (mother and teacher) get together outside of school and become best friends.

The girls living in college dorm form a village with routines, food, clothes and homework. They have fun in all that is involved in a day’s work.

Get a few women involved into cooking and it becomes a adventure…

So, cheers to women who are in it for FUN.

There are many other things that look like Bulling – BUT the outcome for each worker is Depression, which has negative impact on all aspects of our lives.

We are immersed, surrounded and inundated with new technologies. Some of these are absolutely life changing, some are pretty interesting, and some, well, let’s just say, the jury’s not back yet on these.

Between all of the websites, blogs, podcasts, videos, widgets, Twitter, You-Tube, other Web2.0 applications, etc., you could easily spend your entire life trying and engaging in these fascinating diversions and never get through them all.

Take the area of business social networking. A few years ago we had some rudimentary applications, then sites like Ryze, Spoke and others came about. LinkedIn has been around for several years, but just recently seems to have achieved critical mass and become a major force in the business social networking arena. Facebook is taking on more of a business feel, too, with employer and location-specific networks. This is not to mention the dozens of other similar sites that spring up almost on a daily basis–too many to ever keep track of, let alone keep up with.

Here’s the key point: It’s fun to try some of these, but then focus on the ones you either find truly valuable or really enjoy. Let all the others go. And never ever forget Linda’s Cardinal Rule of the Internet: The Web is enduring, not endearing. That means those silly photos or offhanded comments on someone’s Facebook wall or other postings made in fun will be catalogued, googled, searched and archived for a long, long time. Potential employers, colleagues, even friends and family members may all have the opportunity to see and hear your comments a long time after you ever intended.

It’s like going to an all you can eat buffet and trying everything available. It all looks good and it probably won’t hurt you to try almost any of it. You could even mix and match quite a few things and have a good solid meal. But imbibing in everything there just because you can is guaranteed to make you sick.

I’m not just bragging when I say this girl gets around …

Mile-high club aside, I’m a platinum card carrying member of pretty much every other travel-related program out there. In the name of corporate conquest, I’ve become a genuine global citizen, with the inky passport pages to prove it. Taking care of business literally takes me around the world, and along the way, I’ve more or less mastered the unspoken language of the meet and greet.

I can always come up with the correct kiss count thanks to time well spent in conference rooms across “the continent,” and attending summits in sultry South America (beware Brazil—rocking Rio de Janeiro gets two kisses, but stuffy São Paulo only one!). Thanks to assorted Asian adventures, my bows score high marks for both technical and artistic merit. And of course I own the NYC-UK-LA triumvirate, so I have long considered myself a connoisseur of the handshake. That is, up until last week …

There I was, up to my eyeballs in white bread, smack dab in the middle of Middle America, home to everything normal with a capital zzzz. In other words, the last place you expect anything out of the ordinary to occur.

Anyway, I had just arrived at a meeting and was introducing myself around the room. Standard shake seemed in order—firm but friendly—and I was going in for the grab when suddenly this guy pulls a fast one on me. Instead of meeting me half-way, he folds my fingers around his, flips my wrist palm down, and gently holds my hand like he might just bend over and buss it.

I was so confused by this princess/pope kiss-the-ring maneuver, I actually chirped out: “Charmed, I’m sure!” Although, of course, I wasn’t. More like baffled to be briefly thrown off my game, transformed by a simple gesture from bad-ass business babe to demure damsel.

What was this guy thinking? I mean, this is 2007, for crying out loud! And I might expect to be caught off-guard by business customs in Doha or Delhi, but Dayton?!

I was the only woman in the room natch, so I had to wait until later to hash over the humiliation with female friends. Surprisingly enough, almost all of them had similar experiences with at least one corporate dandy. We all agreed that this hand-holding crap is much worst than the creepy limp fish, sweaty palm slide, or disingenuous half-hug.

But what to do the next time it happens? Perhaps pick up that dropped jaw, go with the flow, and play the princess, screaming: “OFF WITH HIS HEAD!”

Or maybe I should simply take this opportunity to offer a word of advice to all the men out there. The boardroom is no place for chivalry. Women in business want to be treated the same as their male counterparts—we just want a fair (and normal, please!) shake.
